Be Still - The Lord Will Fight For You

If you are facing challenging times right now, I want you to know that God loves you. He is there for you and wants to carry you through whatever you are facing.

Maybe you have lost your job or you're facing foreclosure on your home. It could be that you child is sick and you just don't know what to do anymore.  It may be that you're facing the death of a loved one, or you are facing an incurable disease yourself. Maybe you're at the point of giving up believing that you'll have a baby of your own.

You could be dealing with increasing depression and anxiety, where you feel that every second of every day, something seems to be crashing around you, like the waves of an ocean that just keeps on coming and you can't get your head above the water long enough to just take a breath.

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. (Exodus 14:14 - NIV)

This scripture spoke volumes to me, not too long ago, when I myself was facing a really difficult time in my life. The natural thing for us to do is to want to talk about the problem and share it with those you love; your friends and really, anyone that will listen.

As I went into my prayer closet the one morning though, I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to read the account of Moses as he led the Israelites out of Egypt and I had to stop and do a double take as I read the words in Exodus 14:14.

It dawned on me that while I was speaking about the problem to everyone, I was amplifying it in my own life. I was making it bigger than my God and I was succumbing to the fear of it overwhelming me. I was giving this problem power over me and it was winning.

In that moment God instructed me to just BE STILL. BE QUIET and TRUST.  ..Because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

I sat up a bit straighter as a daughter being chastised but at the same time felt God's love rush all over me. I realised what I had done. I asked God for His forgiveness and sat quietly in His presence as He restored my mind and replaced my anxiety and fear for His peace. I knew in that moment that I no longer needed to worry.

Devotions to help you make your time with God more intimate

The Bible promises us that the Lord is on our side and that He will fight for us. He was in my corner and He is also always in yours. We have nothing to fear.

Something that I have always relied on to help me remain focused on His love for me are devotions. It reminds me that God is always near and waiting for me to call out to Him. Devotions can help you take your mind off of your problems and help you shift it back to God. Here are some amazing resources for you to consider.

No matter what we are facing - we know we can call on Him and just be still before Him as we are can be reminded that we are more than conquerors because of His love for us. Romans 8:37.

'The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.' Jer 31:3 NIV

Let's give thanks to Him for His faithfulness and His everlasting love - which never fails.

May you make time to be still to be in God's presence and reach out to the One who knows what you are going through and is willing and able to restore everything to the way it should be.
